In wellness, we often hear the term “mind & body.” But are these two entities really separate? After all, when discussing the mind, what you are really talking about is your brain, which is part of the body. A big part actually! The truth is, our mental health and physical health should not be not thought of separately at all.

If you feel that you are struggling with mental health problems, please take some time for yourself to seek out mental health services or speak to your health care provider. Sometimes people just need someone to talk to. Or sometimes your feelings or emotions could be a sign of a mental health condition that needs treatment.

Is there a connection between mental health & physical health?

Yes, absolutely. As mentioned above, the mind and body are all one living entity. Therefore, it makes sense that there would be a strong connection between mental health, physical health and well-being. When you do not feel good in your mind, it is hard to feel good physically as well. Perhaps you are unmotivated to get out in the fresh air and exercise. Or, perhaps you are making food choices that are not good for your body because they seem to bring temporary relief from what you are feeling. You may even be struggling with a substance abuse problem.

There are many cases where our mental health starts to impact our physical health and vice versa. For example, anxiety disorders and constant anger can lead to cardiovascular issues due to the constant stress. Eating disorders can also impact your heart health, along with your dental health and other health issues. The same could be said for substance use disorders. Mental illness can also lead to constant fatigue.

Self-care is important for good mental health.

If you or a loved one is struggling with mental health issues, the first course of action is to speak with a health care provider. However, if you are currently under the supervision of a doctor, the dooable health coaching program can be an ideal complement to any mental health treatment or counseling that you may be receiving.

Our program is designed to take a holistic approach to feeling good in mind, body and spirit. We can help you feel good through activities and coaching in daily life that will help keep you active, eating a healthy diet full of foods you will enjoy, offer tips for managing stress, and working to improve your self-esteem.

One thing that we have all learned through the COVID-19 pandemic is the importance of being around other people. Our health coaching services give you the benefits of social interaction in the safety of your own home. It truly gives you the sense of belonging to a team, without feeling any of the pressure that sometimes comes along with that type of environment.

Many of the clients that participate in our program find that in addition to improved self-esteem, they feel physically better, have improved sleep and simply just feel better overall. If you are ready to start feeling better too, why not give our program a try? Sign-up for a discovery call to learn more.
